Better Conversations. Stronger Leaders. Healthier Teams.

Leadership is built through conversations.

We believe the conversations leaders choose to have shape the culture, trust and experience of the people around them.

Why Lead Restoratively?

Lead Restoratively was created from a simple idea:

Better conversations create better workplaces.

A restorative approach helps leaders move beyond simply managing tasks and towards truly understanding and leading people.

It creates space to:

  • Build trust within teams

  • Strengthen relationships

  • Navigate challenge and change

  • Have the conversations that matter

  • Support people to learn, grow and thrive

Whether it is supporting a new manager finding their leadership identity, helping teams rebuild connection, or developing organisations where people feel valued, the focus remains the same:

Creating healthier workplaces through the power of conversation.

Our approach

My approach combines:

  • Real-world leadership experience

  • Restorative practice

  • Compassionate leadership principles

  • Reflective practice

  • Evidence-based approaches to supporting people and teams

We believe leadership is not about having all the answers.

It is about creating the conditions where people feel safe enough to contribute, confident enough to grow and connected enough to succeed.

Meet our Founder

Chris Down

Founder

My journey into leadership did not begin in a boardroom. It began as a nurse, supporting people through some of the most challenging and vulnerable moments of their lives.

Over my career, I have seen the incredible difference that compassionate, human-centred leadership can make. I have also seen the impact when people feel unheard, disconnected or unsupported, when pressure builds, conversations are avoided and talented people struggle in silence.

These experiences shaped my belief that leadership is not just about making decisions or delivering outcomes. It is about how we connect with people, how we respond when things are difficult, and how we create environments where people can do their best work.

As my career developed, I moved into leadership roles and became increasingly passionate about supporting others to navigate the transition from being technically skilled professionals to becoming leaders of people.

Through my work as a Professional Nurse Advocate Lead, I have helped embed restorative approaches that give people the opportunity to pause, reflect, learn and reconnect. I have witnessed the power of meaningful conversations, conversations that help people feel valued, rebuild confidence and find a way forward.

This work has reinforced something I have come to believe:

People do not thrive because of policies and processes alone. They thrive when they feel trusted, supported and connected.
